Sarah Hale grew up in Southern California and attended The University of California San Diego. She graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Spanish. After graduation Ms. Hale spent a year abroad teaching English to Spanish military officers. When she returned home, Ms. Hale attended the prestigious Washington University in St. Louis, where she obtained her Juris Doctorate degree.
Ms. Hale began her legal career working at a St. Louis based mass torts firm. Her talent was quickly recognized as she was put in charge of the Vioxx litigation as a second-year attorney. Ms. Hale represented thousands of clients who were grievously injured by the pain medication Vioxx. During the Vioxx litigation Ms. Hale was responsible for building the case for each of her clients by serving discovery, interviewing client physicians, developing and utilizing expert testimony, conducting depositions and briefing and arguing motions to advance and defend her clients’ interests. Through her efforts Ms. Hale recovered well over 100 million dollars from the manufacturer of Vioxx for her clients.
Since the Vioxx litigation, Ms. Hale has represented thousands of other drug and medical device clients in the Baycol, Serzone, Levaquin, Avandia, Actos, Invokana, Hip Replacement, Yaz, Pradaxa, Testosterone and IVC filter litigations. In addition to her advocacy for her individual clients in these litigations, Ms. Hale has provided valuable contributions to the Plaintiffs’ Leadership Committees to advance the overall litigation in many of these cases.
Ms. Hale has also fought for her clients by filing class actions on behalf of defrauded consumers. She has represented consumers who paid artificially inflated prices for brand name drugs (In re: K-Dur Antitrust Litigation) and represented consumers who were damaged economically when a generic version of a medication was kept off the market (In re: Buspirone Antitrust Litigation). Ms. Hale also fought for female and Hispanic employees who were discriminated against by their employer (Longmire v. Regents of the University of California d/b/a Los Alamos National Laboratory).
When she is not advocating on behalf of her clients, Ms. Hale enjoys fitness, hiking and spending time with her family.
